The total solar power capacity in the Netherlands has grown from 2.9 GWp to 4.2 GWp in 2018. This is evident from the National Solar Trend Report 2019, published by Dutch New Energy Research.
The annually installed capacity has grown from 853 MWp in 2017 to 1,330 MWp in 2018. An incredible increase of 46%.
In 2018, 4.6 million new solar panels were installed compared to 3.1 million in 2017.
The capacity in the residential sector grows by 20% but fails to keep up with the spectacular growth in the commercial sector.
” A strong reduction in the cost of solar power, the fact that a large part of the SDE + subsidy (Stimulation of Sustainable Energy Production) is awarded to solar power and the growing awareness of the need for sustainability, ensure the fast growth of solar energy in the Netherlands”, says
Rolf Heynen, CEO of Dutch New Energy Research.
